BAYFIELD COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE

The Bayfield County Planning and Zoning Committee of the County Board of Supervisors will
hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. in the Board Room of the
Bayfield County Courthouse in Washburn Wisconsin relative to the following:
G Fred Barnes, owner and Michael Furtak, agent request an (after-the-fact) conditional use
permit (in a shoreland) to construct and operate a Short-Term Rental Accommodation [2-4 units)
consisting of 2 existing residences. Property is a 2.28–acre parcel (Tax ID# 1747) described as
a parcel in Gov’t Lot 4 in V. 464 P. 168, in Section 9, Township 44 North, Range 9 West, Town
of Barnes, Bayfield County, WI. Property is zoned R-1.
Superior Living Arts, LLC, and Katherine D R Hayes Revocable Trust, owners; and
Annalisa Bermel, agent request a conditional use permit (in a shoreland w/wetlands) to
construct and operate a Multiple Unit Development—consisting of 109 Units. An existing retreat
center building; (21) camper cabins; (24) 1-bedroom cabins; (10) quad-style lodges (40-units);
(15) private cabins; and (8) retreat amenity buildings (i.e. classrooms, sauna, maintenance,
greenhouse, meditation, platform, etc.).
Property is four (4) parcels consisting of 112.69-acres. Property is zoned R-RB.
Parcel #1 (Superior Living Arts) is a 17.64-acre parcel (Tax ID# 36302), Doc #2018R-571586;
described as Lot 2 of CSM# 1773 in V. 10 P. 258; Doc #2011R-541700; and
Parcel #2 (Hayes) is a 19.09-acre parcel (Tax ID# 36301), Doc #2018R-572105; described as
Lots 1 of CSM #1773 in V. 10, P. 258; Doc #2011R-541700; and
Parcel #3 (Hayes) is a 42.09-acre parcel (Tax ID# 36303), Doc #2018R-572105; described as
Lots 3 of CSM #1773 in V. 10, P. 258; Doc #2011R-541700; and
Parcel #4 (Hayes) is a 33.87-acre parcel (Tax ID# 36304), Doc #2018R-572105; described as
Lots 4 of CSM #1773 in V. 10, P. 258; Doc #2011R-541700,
All [located in part of the (SW of the NW); the (NW of the SW); and Gov’t Lot 3 and Gov’t Lot 4];
in Section 23, Township 50 North, Range 4 West, Town of Bayfield, Bayfield County, WI.
Included in this request will be the requirement(s) of the EIA (Environmental Impact Analysis)
which will be addressed separately.
Robert & Marlys Walters, owners & Michael Furtak, agent request an (after-the-fact)
conditional use permit to expand the operation of their Salvage & Scrap Yards. Previous Permit
was obtained Sept 30, 1982 (Permit #82-5400) for the E ½ of the SW NE; less hwy and less that
part described in V.1104, P. 821.
Property requested are (3) additional parcels consisting of 53.00-acres. Property is zoned F-1;

Marc Jelich and Michael O’Connell, owners request an (after-the-fact) conditional use permit
(in a shoreland w/wetlands present) to allow multiple residences on a parcel of land that cannot
be subdivided—consisting of (1) 420 sq. ft residence and (1) 820 sq. ft residence. Property is an
8.0–acre parcel (Tax ID# 19260) described as part of the SW ¼ of the NW ¼, in V. 652 P. 211
(conversion), lying S of cntr line of E Long Lake Rd, in Section 11, Township 47 North, Range 8
West, Town of Iron River, Bayfield County, WI. Property is zoned F-1.
Town of Cable, owner and Karl Kastrosky, agent request a conditional use permit w/wetlands
present) to construct and operate Campground [Public] – consisting of: (5) primitive campsites
within a wooded area in the Cable Recreation Park. Bathrooms located in Depot Bldg, pit privy
onsite and no showers available. Property is a 26.0-acre parcel (Tax ID# 9408), described as
the NE ¼ of the SE ¼; less the W 25 rods, in V. 363 P. 164, in Section 13, Township 43 North,
Range 8 West, Town of Cable, Bayfield County, WI. Property is zoned Municipal.
EIA (Environmental Impact Analysis) will not be addressed as a waiver was sought at the
January 17, 2019 Planning and Zoning Committee meeting.
