Sanitary Permit issuance, if required, needs to occur prior to Land Use Permit issuance. Failure to obtain a permit or starting construction without a pennit will result in penalties. The local Town, Village, City, State or Federal agencies may also require permits. The new construction of one- & two-family dwellings requires review and approval by the local Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) authority. The OHWM determination is helpful for establishing what criteria to apply to existing buildings and structures. The log building we looked at is a recreation structure which predated zoning and was used for a gathering, fish cleaning, pool playing, card game,storage facility. As noted it is in need of repair with the addition of a bathroom. There is an existing mound system on this site that could be easily connected to this structure. The owners intent is to elevate this building, turn it 180degrees, replace the cracked slab, replace the lower logs and set it back down in its present location. In our discussions on site and my review of Section 13-1- 40 (f) (2) of the Bayfield County Zoning Ordinance this is allowable without a permit. I realize that a Private interceptor sanitary permit may be required.
