Hello Desi -This is Keith, Karen's husband. She has given me some background as to the holding tank
concerns. The purpose of the information provided here is to demonstrate that there is essentially no
risk of any issues with our holding tanks at either property. Here's why.
Active Level Monitoring
Years ago, I installed ultrasonic sensors in our holding tanks. Unlike the more common float sensor,
these devices use sound waves to continuously monitor the level in the tanks. I can see the exact level in
my tanks 24/7 from anywhere, using either a computer or my phone. I have an account with the
company who makes the sensors (Automation Products Group). I can go on theirwebsite at anytime
and see the level in my tanks even from hundreds of miles away. During the season, I generally check the
website daily. Here is a screenshot of the website that monitors the tank level:

Text Notifications
We pay extra for text notifications. I receive a text notification when my tank reaches about 2/3 full,
which gives way more than adequate time to arrange for a pumpout. I receive a second text notification
when the tank is about 80% full. Even this is enough time to get a pumpout the next day. Again, float
sensors cannot provide this - float sensors are binary and provide no data about the level in the
tank. They are either off (not alarming) or on (alarming). Guests at our homes never hear a holding tank
alarm. Instead, we get notified long before there could be a problem.
Regularly Scheduled Pumpouts
During our busy season, from May through September, we have arrangements with our pumping
contractors to be pumped weekly or even twice weekly (depending on how much vacancy we have). We
don't ever need to call to schedule a pumpout, so we can't "forget". At Bay View Chalet, for example, we
get pumped out every Tuesday and Friday duringthe summer, regardless of the level in the tank. This
means that, even with 12 guests in the house, ourtanks are usually pumped out before they are even half
full. Our septic provider charges us a consumption rate per gallon of fluid pumped out with each visit.
I believe this is more than adequate evidence that having up to 12 people in our home creates no health
or pollution risk whatsoever. Moreover, it is the best solution for our guests, who don't have to think
about what to do if an alarm goes off in the house (because it never does).
If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We appreciate your consideration!
Thank you,
Keith Soencksen

Hello Karen,
Thanks again for meeting with me yesterday. I wanted to let you know that the drinking water
sample both came back negative. Attached are copies of the inspection reports, copies of the
Health Department licenses, and the new zoning permit for Whispering Pines. If you can please
post both the Health Department and Zoning permits within each facility that would be
wonderful.
I am still looking into the sanitary for Bayview Chalet and unfortunately didn't get to it today due
to inspections. Do you mind sending me the procedures/steps you have in place for that
sanitary system so I have a copy of it? So the only thing that is left is just to get the zoning
permit for that facility to you.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions and have fun in Mexico!
Thanks,
Desi
