No deicing chemicals. Bigger airports that have substantial business traffic, and have aviation service companies (Fixed Base Operators, or FBOs) operating on the field sometimes do deicing for their clientele. Cable Airport has neither substantial business traffic nor aviation service companies. Basically, if an aircraft has ice/frost at Cable it will have to either rent a heated hangar for a bit, or wait for the sun to do the work. Rhinelander (which has scheduled airline flights) is an example of a "small" airport that does do some deicing; it is small compared to MSP, but it is much larger than Cable. Brad Volker, P.E. Attached is the specification for the sign (simple, non -lighted sign). The sign is desired by the Airport Commission for historical/nostalgic reasons to pay homage to the Parod family who managed the airport for many years (With Wife Libby Parod being an inductee to the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame; both Libby and husband are now deceased). Also attached is a photo showing similar signage that was on the former building (attempting to replace such with something similar). If we've been informed incorrectly, and a sign permit will be required, then we will pursue that permit on a separate track/submittal. If the proposed signage is exempted per Bayfield County Ordinance Section 13-1-84, see attached, then no permit would be needed. Can you verify that we can remove the information about the sign from the land use application for the garage so it is clear that no sign permit is being sought? You ask on the Land use application why we checked "Other" (with comment "Equipment Storage") for Structure Type, rather than checking "Detached Garage". Answer— we assumed (probably incorrectly) that "detached garage" was more of a residential thing; and this project is not residential. Sorry about that; I guess what we are proposing could certainly be considered a detached garage.
