MINUTES
Special Meeting of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors
February 24, 2025
Meeting Held Remotely
Call to Order: The monthly meeting of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors was called to
order at 6:31 p.m. by Chairperson, Dennis Pocernich. Roll Call was taken by County Clerk, Lynn
Divine, as follows: Marty Milanowski - present; Jan Lee - present; Madelaine Rekemeyer - present;
Steve Sandstrom - present; Fred Strand - present; Larry Fickbohm - present; Jeff Holte - present;
Jeff Olsen - present; Dennis Pocernich - present; Charly Ray - present; Sue Rosa - present; Mary
Dougherty - absent; Jim Crandall - absent. Present -11, Absent -2. A quorum was present to
conduct business.
Others Present: County Administrator- Mark Abeles-Allison; County Clerk- Lynn M. Divine;
Clerk II -Jaime Cadotte; Sarah Lawrenz - Bertram Communications.
Bayfield County Resolution No. 2025-25 To Approve an Application for Broadband
Expansion in Bayfield County from Bertram Communications, LLC for BEAD Funding
and Authorize the Board Chair to submit a letter of Support: Abeles-Allison stated that
Bertram Communications, LLC was the only applicant for this funding. Sandstrom added that
they will be a potential 3rd provider for Bayfield County. Lee stated that Bertram
Communications specializes in rural communities. Milanowski made a motion to approve
Bayfield County Resolution 2025-25 To Approve an Application for Broadband Expansion in
Bayfield County from Bertram Communications, LLC for BEAD Funding, seconded by
Sandstrom. Motion carried, Yes-11; No-0; Absent-2.
Letter of Support for Wisconsin Department of Revenue, Municipal Innovation Planning
Grant, to further investigate and plan for County Wide EMS: Abeles-Allison indicated that
this is a State Program to consolidate local government services and generate support through the
towns and communities. Each municipality (towns, cities and villages) must apply on its own.
Fickbohm made a motion to approve sending a Letter of Support for Wisconsin Department of
Revenue, Municipal Innovation Planning Grant, and to further investigate and plan for County
Wide EMS, seconded by Lee. Motion carried, Yes-11; No-0; Absent-2.
Adjournment: There being no further business to discuss, Pocernich adjourned the meeting at
6:39 p.m.
