Others Present: Tom Croteau (Behavioral Health and Community Services Manager), Mary Anich (Family Services Section Manager) and Nina Bucher (Support Staff). Call to order: Schmidt called the meeting to order at 10:06 am and tabled the minute approval due to lack of a quorum (which changed at 10:15 when Patterson arrived). Public Comment: none. Section Updates: Family Services-Anich relayed staffing changes and training status on recent hires. Discussion was had regarding updated requirements for hiring allowing more diverse education/experience than in the past. This has helped with the candidate pool, and the state WI Learn social worker training regimen is getting new hires educated on the basics. The balance of the training takes place within the section. Behavioral Health-Croteau shared that his section has noticed a trend to actively psychotic referrals/clients experiencing high activity for long periods of time. This creates challenges to getting safety systems and services in place to offer help. Behavioral Health workers strive to form trusting relationships, triage then facilitate people accessing various programs available in the area. The “Wellness on the Water” building in Washburn houses solo practitioner offices. Nurse Practitioner Psychologist Barb Nevala and several others have set up practice there which should help address service access shortages. Request for Proposals to build the new Behavioral Health Section went out to bid last week. This space will include nine offices, a conference room, and a forensic interview room. Minute Approval: Schmidt asked for any changes or a motion to approve the 5/8/24 FBHSAC meeting minutes. No changes were cited so Neff made the motion to approve, and Patterson seconded. Motion carried. Schmidt’s reappointment: Schmidt will complete a citizen application to reapply for the committee which will be reviewed at the October meeting. Future Meeting date: October 9 at 10am. Minutes were approved at the 1/8/25 FBHSAC meeting K:\Agendas and Minutes\Family & Behavioral Health Services Advisory Committee\FBHSAC Minutes\2024 FBHSAC minutes\2024-07- 10_FBHSAC_Meeting minutes-final.docx 2 Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 10:50 am.
