Im glad you were able to get out to the site. Looks like the weather was great. Below are the responses to the questions you had. - Any part of the paver patio not covered by the new building foot print will remain. My mistake for not showing this on the plan, this is now included on both the site plan and stormwater plan. We could divert run off into the closest retention pit. I am also open to other solutions to mitigate the stormwater. _ - The holding tankyou're referringto is the existing septic tank. It's shown on the site plan to be removed and infilled. Ive added that note to the revised stormwater plan. - The camper will be removed and the surround area will be naturalized. Ive made that note on the revised stormwater plan as well. - The two long skinny storage sheds along the east property line will be removed and the area naturalized. The wood shed located by the existing camper will remain. Ive added this / to the stormwater plan as well. CtWe will remove all boats, docks, and boat lifts from the area to the left of the sidewalk by he lake and naturalized the area. Also noted on the revised stormwater plan. We will remove the existing shower structure. This is also noted on the new plan. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Ive also included a revised site plan with the updated non pervious calculations that include the patio and wood shed. What is this structure and how does one plan to work around it? • There is a camper and driveway to it that is on the site, will this be removed and naturalized? I do not see it in the impervious surface calculations. • There are 3 firewood structures on the lot, at the end of the project will any of these remain? • The declared viewing and access corridor did not include the area to the left of the stairs. They work well where infiltration rates (speed that water soaks into the soil) range from 0.5 to 3 inches per hour. Sandy soils provide lots of opportunity for infiltration. Do not install infiltration practices if there is not at least 3 feet of separation to groundwater. Infiltration practices are not recommended where soils consist of more than 30 percent clay or more than 40 percent silt and clay. Rain gardens are the excep- tion. With rain gardens, plant roots create pore spaces for water to travel along and soak into the garden bottom. Approximate Infiltration Rates of Soils Sand 1.2 to 3.0 inches or more per hour Sandy Loam 0.8 to 1.2 inches per hour Infiltration pits and Loam 0.3 to 0.8 inches per hour trenches work well Clay Loam 0.2 to 0.3 inches per hour Rain gardens are the only infiltration Clay 0.04 to. 0.2 inches per hour method Measuring Infiltration Rates You can perform a simple infiltration (or more accurately percolation) test by digging a hole with straight, vertical sides to the depth where you want to infil- trate water and filling it with water to moisten the soil. Allow this water to drain, then fill the hole again. Measure water depth after filling and every 15 minutes until the hole'drains. Measured every fifteen minutes, the infiltration rate per hour is four times the average decrease in water depth. Assessing Soil Type Two do-it-yourself methods for assessing soil type follow. Soil test kits may be also available from your local IlW-Extension Office. Mother source of soils information is the Natural Resources Conservation Service. With a high speed internet connection 19 IN FtI.T n ATE and a fast computer, you can look rap soils mopped for your property. To try tW;go to the NR(S Web Soil Survey. hltjs//`°cb.nilsurvry.NNC.S.nula.gav/app. Follow the Instructions on the web site, lie patient: depending upon the speed of your internet connection and compute,,,it can take a while toga to your desired location. MRCS soil Information Is available by hydrologic soil group. This classification groups soils by their INntmtlon capability. A soils ate sandy soils with high Inal- notion rata. B tolls have moderate infiltration, and C sons have low Infiltration mta.Soih may vary considerably from she to site -especially whew fill is brought in during ennstnictinn. Direct the cettifed soil tester to dig a pit to 3 feet below the potential depth of the Infiltration practice. Have the soil Later chaneterlu the son and ask for a repot that specifies son texture at various sod depths.Alao have them identify where soil shows evidence of a Willi w, -.ter table. Certified roil takers can be found in the yellow pages undcr'SolTwing'or-Pcrc Testing." A list of ceNfied will balers in your some may be available from your county zoning office. Soil Compaction from Construction Many developed properties have severely compacted soils.Tllese sons were corn. peered wheat heavy seminary dove over native or all solo during conatru aloes. (umpactfon resulting from cormntNon activities can last decuka.T is Is wiry It Is Important to avold rue ofircavy machinery on waterfront property If at all possible. To Increase Infiltration in compacted soils, till soils deeply (at least one foot) and add 3 to 6 Inches of compost. Composted materials like laves and grew will add organic material and port spaces to the rot and Increase Infiltration. Leveling Infiltration Areas To maximize the volume for holding the infiltrating water, the bottom of IMltra- lion practices should he level. '2 check the bottom of an Infiltration practice, place a 2X4 plank across the bottom and measure with a carpenter's level. Important things to keep In mind when infiltrating water Place Infiltration practices at least 10 fast tom the house to prevent undrmMing of the inundation or seepage Into fire basement. Infiltration pnclices should be at least SO lest from drinking water walls. Newly constructed walla meat be at least 25 fast deep, but rider, more shallow wells may still e.jet. So sure the bottom of an inhibition area Is aaparated at least Ihree lest from tire groundwater to prevent groundwater contamination. Avoid hieing iniidration uphill of or a optic drain field. IN F I Lr nnr[ Rock Infiltration Trenches the a rock trench to capture ninoff from a roof or parking area. A filter fabric trench liner prevents soil fmm entering the spaces between the rocks where water b field, Filter fabric is available front many hardware stores and sonic band and Water Conservation tepanments. Tenches may be comwcted next to buildings without basements or foundations such as pole sheds. It Is a good Idea to leave at least sic inches between the edge of a poured concrete slab or asphalt driveway to prevent undernlning.Thla area can be covered with rock at the surfaco, if desired. Do not place trences within it. fret of a house where water could soak into the basement. Allows fifteen -foot wide strip of glass between a heavily used parking area and a rock trench to clean the water before it soaks into the ground. Across Northern Wisconsin this ranges from just over 2 inches (I year storm) to around 4 inches (10 year storm) of rain in a 24 -hour period. Preventing Sediment Accumulation To prolong the life of your infiltration pit, install a layer of filter fabric six inches below the final top surface. Cover the filter fabric with clean rock to the surface. Follow these steps to maintain the infiltration system 1. Remove pine needles and any other matter that has collected on top of the system. 2. For small rock, remove rock and sift with a 3/4" mesh to remove sediment. 3. Rinse rock. 4. Remove remaining sediments and replace or rinse filter fabric. 5. Refill with clean rock. 6. Place recovered fine sediments in bordered flower bed or other contained area and mulch. 7. Discard dirty water and sediment in a contained area on your property such as a plant bed. Subsurface Infiltration Pits An infiltration pit can be constructed beneath the soil and grass, but be sure to keep the following in mind: ■ Cover rock with filter fabric to prevent soil from entering the spaces between the rocks. N Be sure the location of the infiltration pit is noted above ground. To minimize compaction and maximize effectiveness, do not drive across this area. 0 An overflow device is needed. N A direct connection to a rain gutter downspout may deliver leaves, pine needles, and other debris below ground and clog the rock spaces. See photo on page 25 for a tube system that provides overflow for excess water and allows access to clean out debris. 24 Town, City, Village, State or Federal Permits May Also Be Required Substandard — Yes / Nonconforming — No Shoreland — Yes / Impervious Surface - Yes Floodplain - No / Wetlands - No Mitigation - Yes I Affidavit #: LAND USE - X SANITARY — New 26-11S SPECIAL A — SPECIAL B/CONDITIONAL — BOA — No. 26-0198 Tax ID: 1692 Issued To: SCHNACK LIVING TRUST Location: S08 - T44N - R09W Town of Barnes BAYFIELD COUNTY PERMIT WEATHERIZE AND POST THIS PERMIT ON THE PREMISES DURING CONSTRUCTION Legal Description: TRIANGULAR PAR WITH 144.8' OF LAKESHORE OF LOT 6 IN 2024R-603027 489A (SCHNACK LIV TRUST DTD 4/3/2024) Residential Structure in R-1 zoning district For: New Construction [- Story ], Residence on a Basement [4225 Total sq. ft. ] Height of 34' (Disclaimer): You are responsible for complying with state and federal laws concerning construction near or on wetlands, lakes, and streams.
