Are you aware that you need a permit for an RV if you are placing it for more than 21 days? For greater than 4 months you would also need a Special Use A permit. For shipping containers on residential parcels, you need a Special Use B permit. • I can't find a permit forthe deck/seating area you have in front of your RV. That structure requires a permit. • Are you familiar with our shoreland zoning ordinances? Looking at aerial photography there has been quite a bit of tree and vegetation removal sometime around 2018 (before you purchased the property) as well as mowing all the way down to the waterline. As per our ordinances, you are allowed a 35' wide viewing corridor for every 100' of lake frontage in the 35' buffer zone. This corridor should not be clear cut but left with a "filtered view" of the lake and not mowed. You are allowed one 5' walking path to the water. Due to the length of your lake frontage, the tree removal is legal, but there should be no mowing within 35' of the water. Please see section 13-1-23 here: Sec Or see below: Sec. 13-1-23 Shoreland-Upland Screening, Fencing and Vegetative Management. Regulation of screening, fencing, and vegetative management is necessary to minimize off -site nuisances, to control erosion, to protect the scenic beauty of an area, and, in the shoreland area, to reduce effluent and nutrient flow from the land to its receiving waters, as follows: (a) Shoreland Vegetation Protection and Vegetative Management Areas. (A)1 0/31/2017) (1) There shall be a shoreland vegetation protection area on each lot adjoining or including navigable water extending from the ordinary high-water mark (OHWM) to a line that is 35 feet from the ordinary high-water mark. Within such area, the removal of trees, shrubs, and ground cover, and land disturbing activities are prohibited with the following exceptions: (A)1 0/31/2017) a. b. c. d. Portions of this Ordinance Last Updated: (7/30/2024) One 35 foot wide viewing corridor for every one hundred feet (100') of frontage on a body of water maybe established by pruning and selective removal of trees and shrubbery. Clear cutting, filling, grading, and other land disturbing activities are prohibited. Sufficient trees and shrubbery shall be retained to screen development from view from the water but provide a filtered view of the water. The viewing corridor(s) shall be more or less perpendicular to the shore and shall be set back at least ten (10) feet from each side lot line. For lots with less than 100 feet of frontage, the width of the viewing corridor shall be no more than 35% of the frontage. A viewing/access corridor may not be established where the absence of vegetation provides a similar naturally occurring opening. A viewing corridor may run contiguously for the entire maximum width allowed under this ordinance. (A)1/18/2005); (A)10/31/2017); (A)2/28/2018) Plant removal and land disturbance are permitted to the extent, and only to the extent, that they are necessary in connection with the erection or placement of structures in the shoreland vegetation protection area which are authorized under Subsections 13-1-22(a) (7) or (8) of this Ordinance. (A)1/18/2005); (A)1 0/31/2017) The county may allow routine maintenance of vegetation. (©)10/31/2017) Let me know if you have any questions on these issues. Scott Roush From: Todd Janigo <janigo@hotmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 5:51 PM To: Scott Roush Subject: Re: land use permit for shed taxlD#17623 Hi Scott When we purchased the property, this question came up. We were told that the shipping container is considered a structure and that the rv/camper was okay on a property with a structure. Trying to pick through the code a bit, it says "undeveloped parcel" which was likely where that answer came from. Being that the shipping container is considered a structure, the site should be considered developed as there is a well and septic in addition to the structure. The shipping container shows up in one old aerial photo from 2015, not the other. Either way, prior to the 2024 adoption (I think?) of the shipping container ordinance. I believe that would mean that the container was placed legally in 2015 as the ordinance didn't exist and a permit not needed? We moved the sitting area from its original location about 20' in order to be able to come and go with our camper. Just stacked some cinder blocks under it until we come up with a plan for what and where to build on the property. Can I ask what code is being referenced which would require it to be permitted? I'm trying to familiarize myself with the code and found that Minor Structures are exempted as well as Structures Exempt Under s. 59.692(lv) Wis. Stats and it is also outside of the 75' buffer. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot. The mowing is what it is, just working with what was here when I bought the property. The last line in your reference below.. (A)10/31/2017) The county may allow routine maintenance of vegetation. (©)10/31/2017) A lot of geese on the lake and they graze there if that makes any difference. I can mow less if we ever get any rain and the grass grows! So, next steps. Mowing isn't an issue. Seems outside of that we are in compliance with the shoreline zoning ordinances. If you could consider the other points and get back to me ASAP. I hate to say the days are getting shorter and these prefabricated buildings take quite a while to be built. Thanks!
