Construction Notes
1. AU construction will be in accordance with applicable Wisconsin Building Code(s).
2. This building is a combined structure consisting of a 16 ft x 16 ft workshop joined through a 16 ft common wall to the
16 ft x 20 ft greenhouse.
3. Reinforced slab on grade construction with grade beams. PEX tubing with HD board insulation will be installed in
both sections of the building to facilitate zoned radiant floor heating. Refer to slide 3 for more information. Note the
floor differences (pavers and concrete) between the two rooms
4. All exterior and interior walls of the structure will be of 2" x 6" x 9' construction at 16" on center. Refer to slide 4 for
the wall plan regarding horizontal dimensions and window and door locations.
4a. The exterior workshop walls will receive a suitable house wrap. All seams will be sealed with builders' tape to prevent
air infiltration. These walls will be covered with 7/16" OSB. The common wall between the workshop and greenhouse
will have plywood installed by the owner later in the construction process.
4b. The greenhouse walls will consist of a 2" x 6" x 2' knee wall, topped with 8mm clear polycarbonate twin -wall
greenhouse panels. Trim and flashings will be fastened to the wall girts on the greenhouse panel sections per the
manufacturer's specifications. The knee wall in the greenhouse will receive the same OSB sheeting, wrap, and siding
as the workshop walls. Refer to slides 6-8 for more visual information.
5. The entire roof will have an engineered truss system design for a 6/12 pitch. The truss will be installed at 24" on
center and anchored per code.
5a. The roof over the workshop will have sheeting installed per code requirements. The workshop roof area will have 12 -

Construction Notes (continued)
5b. The roof area over the greenhouse will have 8mm clear polycarbonate twin -wall greenhouse panels installed per the
manufacturer's specifications. The greenhouse will have no eaves and will terminate at the wall -roof junction. This
junction wilt be secured in accordance with the polycarbonate manufacturer's specifications.
6. The owner will purchase and install the window and double exterior door for the workshop.
7. LP SmartSide® Siding and exterior trim installed for the workshop exterior and greenhouse knee walls. The color and
dimension of the siding will be decided in consultation with the selected project contractor.
8. Excavation required to bury two conduits from the northwest corner of the house to the west side of the workshop.
Refer to slide 5 for more information. The trenching distance is approximately 80 feet. The conduits wilt allow
electrical and water access from the house's mechanical room to the workshop.
8a. The conduit size for the electrical must allow for easy movement of 100 -amp rated wire when pulled through the
conduit. Additional wire length will be left for installation at each panel location. The subpanel will be placed
between the entry door and the common wall in the workshop. The subpanel will be connected to the service under a
future electrical permit. Refer to slide 4.
8b. The water conduit must allow the easy passage of 1 -inch PEX tubing when pulled through it. Acceptable additional
tubing length will be left for installation at each plumbing location. The electrical wilt not be connected at this time.
That procedure will be addressed in a future electrical permit. Additionally, a sleeve beneath the grade beam must be
installed to allow the conduit and tubing to enter through the workshop floor. The water hydrant will be 2 feet to the
right of the doorway on the common wall, and 1 foot out from the wall. Refer to slide 4.
9. This construction request is to give the building a completed appearance on the outside. All interior work: electrical,
plumbing, insulation, wall vapor barrier, drywall, painting, etc., will be addressed in future permits.
